Join us as a piece of Brighton & Hove’s history is about to come alive again, after being closed to the public since 2006. We are delighted to be holding a grand Winter/Christmas Makers Fair in the large and impressive coal storage shed of The British Engineerium in Hove! The first in our Winter/Christmas season of events!
Kick start your Christmas shopping off in style at the British Engineerium in Hove. The Winter Makers Fair will feature over 100 unique artists, makers & small batch food/drink producers all carefully curated for their quality.
Spread across two floors - there is a large exhibition hall and a mezzanine gallery floor which also includes a food speciality/small batch food area.
Expect to find high quality, unique and original artists, makers & designers with an array of contemporary, traditional and even quirky products. It’ll be your opportunity to explore, meet and shop with so many creative small independent businesses - a perfect start to the seasonal shopping period.
You’ll also find Italian Street Food, Orange Beach Bars and Artisan Cakes & Bakes so you can relax and take a break from all the shopping and exploring.
Little ones can get their face painted from professional face painter, Polly Chromatik - available across the weekend.
Gerry’s House will be doing live embroidery on Saturday, where you can get custom pieces made there and then!
We have International artist, Nick Sayers with us on Sunday. Nick will be offering an interactive art experience, suitable for all ages, creating art work from one of his bicycle drawing machines! No need to pre book, just drop by to learn more and enjoy!

Visit the Engineerium Museum
The British Engineerium Museum will be open for visitors during our Fair between 12pm - 4pm. This is your chance to discover all the antiquities in the Boiler Room and Engine Rooms. Did you know the Engineerium was responsible for supplying Brighton & Hove with water for over a century?
Entry to the Museum is located on the ground floor within the fair.
Please note: No under 16s admitted without an adult. All children must be supervised at all times. No under 8s’s. There are no access facilities for Wheelchairs due to the nature of old building/museum. There are stairs throughout the museum that require care and may not be suitable if you have restricted mobility. During busy periods, there may be a small wait due to capacity. Enter is at your own risk - it is a working museum.
(This information is for the museum only - main event has no age restrictions)
food & drink
Take a break from shopping and indulge in a delicious selection of food and drink whilst your visit to the Engineerium! Head outside to find Orange Beach Bars for specialty hot drinks, refreshing soft drinks, and a variety of boozy Winter Warmers to keep you cozy.
On Saturday, satisfy your cravings with Italian delights from Sitadella, featuring mouthwatering Arancini, Canolini, Focaccia and more. On Sunday, you’ll find Boella, serving up Neapolitan-style pizzas, Panuozzis, and Arancini that will transport your taste buds straight to Italy.
Connie’s Kitschen will be serving up artisan sweet and savoury bakes all weekend, conveniently located just inside the main entrance.
Relax in our covered outdoor seating area or find a spot inside to enjoy your drinks/meal. And don’t miss the food quarter (located upstairs), where you can discover small-batch and artisan food and drink gifts perfect for taking home!
